Exhibition: Matthew Leifheit: The Gay Chorus: No Time At All
The Gay Chorus: No Time at All, conceived by Matthew Leifheit for the New York City AIDS Memorial, was a newly-commissioned sound installation designed to liberate long-unheard voices from LGBTQ+ archives in cities across the United States, uniting them in an hour-long recital that looped throughout Pride Month.
Event: Kinfolk & Gay Chorus Opening Celebration
On June 1, the New York City AIDS Memorial launched Kinfolk: Portals of Remembrance and The Gay Chorus: No Time at All with a public celebration. Visitors explored Kinfolk’s augmented reality artworks and gathered for a live performance by Egyptt LaBeija. The event also introduced The Gay Chorus, a sound installation by Matthew Leifheit featuring archival recordings of gay men’s choruses. Together, the projects opened Pride Month with a moving tribute to queer memory and resilience.
Event: David Wojnarowicz 70 Years
On the occasion of what would be his 70th birthday, the David Wojnarowicz Foundation in collaboration with the New York City AIDS Memorial, Visual AIDS, and P·P·O·W staged a production of Wojnarowicz’s seminal monologues, The Waterfront Journals, along with performances by Rimbaud Hattie and candlelit vigil.
