About the Event:

On April 25 & 26, 2026, the New York City AIDS Memorial was thrilled to partner for a series of AIDS Memorial Quilt-Making Workshops with Poster House, as part of their exhibition Love & Fury: New York’s Fight Against AIDS. These free and open-to-the-public quilt-making workshops were led by artist Erika deVries. During the two-day workshops, the public was invited to observe and participate in the panel-making process. Together, we designed and stitched several new panels honoring the lives of creative New Yorkers, including Chloe Dzubilo, Tony Feher, Robert Joffrey, Horace Gifford, Ms. Colombia, and others. Dozens of artists, designers, activists, volunteers, and community members joined as we engaged in cross-generational conversation, continuing the intention of the activists who first imagined the Quilt—to inform, to share, and to build community.

Support:

Support for the Quilt-Making Workshops was provided, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development in partnership with the City Council.

The New York City AIDS Memorial thanks Poster House and Materials for the Arts for their support, material and equipment loans, and donations.
